Default ABS light = blown 3rd brake light

So is this real??

ABS light occasionally started lighting up on starts, would go off after driving for a second. Would also occasionally blip on and ding while driving, immediately going off afterwards.

Turns out my 3rd brake light was blown. I read somewhere that this would trip the ABS light. Is this true?? Anyone else have an experience like this??

Eh, sounds fishy.

Check your speed sensor wires by your wheels. I had an issue with my other truck that the wire was rubbing on the wheel and eventually wore through the insulation and was shorting on the wheel.

Why dont you just replace the bulb and see if the problem goes away. It'll take 5 minutes.

I did replace the bulb cowgirl. It hasn't happened since. But that's only 24 hrs ago.

I've read that this can be an issue on f-bodies lighting up the abs code, but not on trucks. Lots of people talked about it on ls1tech

If the ABS light is on you need to run down to the parts store and see if their code reader can do ABS on your truck. On a truck the 3rd brake light cannot set an ABS code, it is independently wired to the brake pedal.

Blip and ding is usually a bad ground for the ABS unit.

The ground near the drive side body mount?
