Default ? about what to charge someone in labor

I met this guy today, with an 02 SCSB 4.8l chevy silverado. After BSing with the guy, he wants me to paint his grill, door handles, upper bumper(theblack top portion), and the lower valance. He also wants me to descreen the MAF, install a K&N drop in filter, TB grind, and replace his plugs with the DENSO Iridiums. He's going to buy the plugs and the drop in filter from Pep boys. Whats nice is its white, and I already have white paint from my truck. Any Sugg. on what i should charge him?? He wants a price quote, so he can have it done this week. I could use the cash for my truck payment so it works out.
Thanks
J

may i suggest 35 bucks per hour times your estimated time to do everything. Common shops usually charge near 55 if im not mistaken. and if your not happy with that figure, add for materials. After all it is YOUR paint. That dudes going to be getting one hell of a deal from you, rather than a paint shop. When I painted my grille, airdam, bumper cover, mirrors, dash and tailgate cap it may have ran me 100 in paint, clear coat and primer. Witht he left over i managed to paint the engine cover and fan shroud btw. Good luck on getting the job, spare change is always good when your a truck finatic.

My local dealer charged me $150 for the bumper cover, and handles. They charged my stepfater $200 for the same + the tailgate handle and 1 bedrail that was scratched. Parts and labor. We did take all the parts off the trucks though. As far as the drop-in, do it for free and show him how to do it. The plugs, $25 IMO. They have go to be the easiest plugs in the world to change. I can do them in about 10 min. I would talk him out of those iridiums though. I just think that it is rediculous to pay more that $4.00 per plug considering NGK's will cost under $3 and will last 50k or more. Then change them again and still not add up to the cost of a lesser performing iridiums. Just my opinion on the plugs though. To each his own. I just have to ask, are you gonna change his oil for him to?

Wow, labor @ any fairly decent body shop around here is about $70 per hour. The price of stuff in nj is nuts. Truck insurance with full coverage, $3k. Property tax on a house with 1 acre $10k. i guess its all where you live huh? Thnk you guys for your advice, i was going to bang em $400 for every thing. Thats including paint. I dont know, that seems like the going rate for stuff out here. I went to 3 places before i panted mine, and they wanted about $500(inluding labor) so i guess its ok huh?

Hey Crazy,
I don't have a link, but there is a pic. of the front of a truck in the Nov.2002 edition of Truckin magazine.Aim is who has it.I know people don't like Aim Ind.,but i figure if they have it someone else is bound to have it.You can get them in all smooth, smooth except with fog lights, and smooth with billet in the center and fog lights. Also chrome or raw steel.
Prices
smooth raw:$99
smooth with fog lights:$149
smooth with billet and foglights:$199
chrome add $50

If I knew how to add a pic on here I would scan it and put it on here

They also have a package deal that includes cowl induction hood, billet grill, and smoothie bumpers for four-hundred something... I'll have to check the magazine when I get home... but it sounded like a really good deal if it's quality parts. Oh and I think it's only available for silverado's.
