Ok guys, so a year ago I bought one of those cheapo spectre air filters and it actually works and fits great. For the first time though, I'm ready to clean the filter.

I can't tell if it's a cotton type filter or if it's paper. Is there an easy way to tell? If it's a paper cone type filter, what's the best way to clean them? Or am I better off just chucking it in the garbage and buying a whole new cone filter?

 

They have a cleaning and oil kit that they sell at autotzone or wherever you bought it. the k&n kit should work the same.

 

I've used the K&N cleaner and oil kit and it seems to do just fine... I want to buy one of the oilless filters though that just needs cleaning with mild soap

 

I'd buy a new one. In my experience, cleaning those kinds of filters doesn't work all that great. Cleaning my AEM dryflow filter is a pain in the ***, I'd rather spend the money and just get a new one lol.
