My stock heads were 706s. All the specs are the same. The only difference I've seen with my new 862s were little triangles cast into the side of the head at the deck surface. I read in Car Craft a while back that heads with these triangles are cast using a better method, and sometimes are worth 5 hp over the other type of casting.

well, i guess there isnt much difference then.... idk. i have the 862 myself but my cousin has the 706 and has different coil packs then me, his truck was made in the first quarter, mine was made in the 3rd quarter, we both have 01 model trucks, and my dads truck is a 00 model and has the 862, i havent seem many 706 casting heads, so maybe the 862s are better ??? thats what they kept on using, isnt it ?

i think the 706's are also mexico made. snake eater had those on his silverado and his yukon. both made in mexico. and there suppose to be sand cast or something like that. his silverado was a 2000 and his yukon is a '05.
