6.0 swap into '96-'98 C1500.......
#1
I'm aware that this probably isn't a 1000% straight-forward swap but I can't imagine it being any harder than putting an LS1 into an S10 (I've helped with two of those now...it's getting to be pretty easy). Besides, Allen Nelson (Farmtruc) has already done this and it seemed to work pretty good for him
I'm looking into this for a few reasons:
1. these trucks are CHEAP !!!, I can pick up a loaded V8 RCSB for ~$3500
2. it's already OBDII compliant so the swap will be legal in Cali.
3. Curb weight for a RCSB is listed as ~4300lbs....that's almost 1500lbs lighter than my current truck !!
4. The body style STILL looks good....and lowered they look REALLY good !!
5. the 4L60e that's in them will bolt right to the motor....and I bet that the Gen III PCM will control it too.
6. I bet Speartech could provide me with a plug-n-play harness for the dash and such....
I see alot of reasons to attempt this swap.....I bet that with a little work you could have a killer sleeper, I'm mean, c'mon...who's gonna expect an OBS truck to be packin' a built 6.0 with north of 400hp !!.
I know there would be issues with the fueling, electrical and such but those issues should be pretty straight forward to deal with I would think.
give me your opinions.....

my opinion-
i dont see any trouble in it, wouldve already attempted it in my '89 if it wasnt for my 700r4 being built so good and not wanting a diff. trans (if i had stock it would be any easy decision)
.... i think im leaning towards a vortec build now though so no biggie, their cheaper too haha
