I had the 4.8 (with 5-speed), 6.0 (auto), and 5.3 (auto) in my garage when I did my swap. I noticed that the 4.8 (from the 5-speed) had a longer crank than the 5.3 and the 6.0. I think its because of the trany. The t56 is the way to go, by far. I love it. The best part is I don't hear that dam winning noise anymore. I hated that first gear, too short. Do it all at once 6.0 and the t56, outside of the truck.. You need a good clutch. There is no crossmember modifications on the 5 speed trucks. It goes in easy this way. It should be easy. let me know if you need anymore info. I been there.
P.S. I hate that fuggin whining noise too

See this guys webpage. He did a T56 swap in his truck. But it was a 5.3. Swap will be the same.
