6.0 set up
im starting my lq4 6.0 buildup from scratch. i have the lq9 flat top pistons and rods so far. planning on going with 243 heads. does anyone know what cam i should go with on an lq4? would an ls6 cam sound choppy on it or should i go aftermarket?

An LS6 cam will sound no different than a stock LQ4 cam. There are a lot of things to consider when ordering a cam like your goals, if you're going to boost/spray it, driveability, sound (if that's all you care about), etc. Also take into consideration the weight of the truck. You probably won't want a 228R in a 6,000lb truck because it'll be a turd lol. My best advice is to list as much about your truck and your goals as you can and someone will be able to chime in and make some good suggestions.

Just my opinion but that goal will be easily attained with a mid-sized cam, good converter (3200-3600 range), and some gear. If you want a perfectly-matched package one of the sponsers like Texas Speed and Performance could get you where you want to go. You also have the option of getting a custom-grind from EPS or Advcanced Inductions, etc. When I was shopping for my stuff, I honestly read a LOT of other people's experiences and studied their set-ups and how they performed. Hope this helps.

Many "off the self" cams will get you to your goals but a custom cam would probably be worth it... The flat tops with the 4" bore and the 243's you'll be @11:1 static comp. and will require premium fuel and good tune for best results. But, it will be a blast... Good luck!
