Man I don't know much about the 5.3 at all. I was wondering if there was a 5-speed transmission you could get from the factory with this motor. I know the pre-99 models did, but that goes to show how much I know. I'd really like a brand new single cab with a 5-speed and when I tried to build one on chevrolet.com i selected the base with a 5 speed and then added the 5.3 as an option and on the final page showed it still had the five speed but I don't think that was right at all. I'm not 100% possitive on the new style 07's and up but the 99-07's didn't have a 5.3L and manual transmission for any truck.
You could always buy a super cheap 4.8L and do a lq4/t56 swap!!!

 

Hey that is another topic....how do you do that one? I've never heard of anyone getting the T56 into a truck because the shifter is almost on the tailshaft! Is it possible, or does someone make a kit or something?

 

There is no 5.3L 5 speed option, you have to make that yourself. The new body style trucks I don't believe even have a manual trans option at all.
