Default 5.3 cam kit advice

I'm looking to get a cam for my 03 5.3. All I have done to it is cold air intake, Flowmaster super 40 dual exhaust system, and bully dog tuner. I'm looking to find a cam kit that can still be a daily driver and for long road trips. Looking to get some help on finding the right cam kit for it. And also do I have to do anything else to my truck so that it can handle the cam?

Headers and a real tune would be what I'd want. Bully dog tuner isn't going to cut it.

Choose a smaller cam if you don't want to upgrade your stall converter. Maybe like a 212/218ish in size or similar.

You dont think stock headers won't cut it if I get a cam? How about if I got a different converter? What kind of converter and cam would you recommend? And if I did do headers what kind of cam should I get?

Cam Motion drop in camshaft. Good gains, no real mods required. But, a real tune is a must - a handheld tuner/programmer isn't going to work.

Start with full bolt-ons and a tune. You'll be much more happy with your gains when you do start down the camshaft path. Look into BTR and TSP when you are ready. That's a good deal above me...

the stock headers/manifolds arent going to flow as well as some longtubes. you will get more power and torque with a set of longtubes vs stock. that cam that nate mentioned is a good DD cam with power when you want it (granted you get a REAL tune). I have basically that same cam (Comp brand though) and I love it. Real performs on the highway I think much bigger than like a 220/224 cam and you will need a stall, so you should be fine if you stay smaller than that IMO. remember you will also need to get new valve springs and pushrods too, in case you weren't aware of that.
