4.8L what is its potential?

But for all intents and purposes, I'm sure we can say no to the factory 5.3/manual combo. Those trucks that actually did come that way are probably very few and far between.

I was thinking about this the other day..If you took a fully forged 4.8 bored .060 over it would be a 5.0..put on some 315+ cfm heads /11:1 cr and a healthy cam...Point being, I want to see what a lsx based motor will do at 5.0L..This of course would be purpose built to spin to 8000+ rpm..Wonder how it would do against fords new Coyote motor with similar speced cams

It would be kinda cool to see an engine built like that, or even a 6.0 block with the 4.8 crank, but the trouble is it isn't cost effective. To make lots of power, you need to rev it high, and the valvetrain parts, for one, to be durable in that rev range have seemingly exponential costs the more rpm you want to turn.

Mods and times are in my sig... Funny thing is i run alot smaller cam than most, but i am faster, and those times are NA... Also i found some things in my tune that should make me a little faster this fall, so those times should come down some...

Thanks guys for all the post.
The 06 rcsb 4.8L 5 speed with 36000 miles I mention for 12000 does that sound like a good deal to you guys. It is also a 1 owner no wrecks and the dealer only has 8700 in it.
Very clean truck

with the mods in my sig and 4.10s instead of 3.73s my truck will run possibly 12s on motor and it runs 12.0 hopefully 11s on a 100 shot. and with that im still getting 22 mpg
now that is through a 4l60e not a 5 speed...
i also have pulled a good bit of stuff out of my truck for weight reduction without sacrificing strength or drivability.

StrokerAce03, u said only for 1 year did GM do a manual 5.3... & it was in '99. How'd u know that? Were they Chevy's or GMC's? EC or RC?
I never even heard of this.
