Default 4.3 man to a 5.7 man what to look for?

I have a 91 GMC Sierra. It's the 4.3 with the man trans. I'm wanting to go with a 5.7 and just from what I've read so far its looking like the best way to go would be taking a v8 from a similar truck that is a similar year. But I was also thinking about pulling an engine from an old camaro or corvette. I know I have to replace the whole drive train. And I just started looking into this. But aside from Wiring harness, tranny, and rear end is there anything else I need to know before I start this? I'm thinking just get an old beat up truck and pulling most the parts from it replacing with new or rebuilt as needed?

Yea I'm going to do my best to find a complete one. Also do I have to do all this at once or will the 5.7 bolt to my factory 5 speed trany allowing me to swap that at a later time?

That truck came (if it had of been an automatic) with a 700r4 (mine did) The crossmember you have with the 5 speed will work with a 700r4 if you go that rout. I would either go get a 6.0 with motor trans and complete harness and drop that in or put a carbed motor of your choice in it (that is what I did) I went with a stroked 5.7 out of a 1996 with vortech heads and a carb. I am very happy with my setup. If you have any questions let me know.
