$1800 still sounds high for the front and rear diffs. I've seen about $1200 on average for a front/rear gear swap.
I regeared my 4x4 for a tad over $700, and that wasnt the homie hookup.

Then I saw gear seat prices on rockauto, and was pissed for not trying it myself first.

I would not do 4.56 on a DD with only 265/70R17, but 4.10 is a small difference personally if I changed i would go 4.30, or go 4.56 but also get slightly larger tires like a 33"

I think I need to do more shopping around. If I could find somewhere that will do closer to $1000 or less then I would be all for it.
Can anyone with a good tune and 3.73s chime in? Just wondering how much I should expect this to affect my truck's acceleration. I wouldn't expect anything serious, but never done it

i love my 4.30s with 33s. it's close to the same final drive as stock 30" with 3.73s. it's a little lower-geared than i'd really like for interstate driving on a stock cam, but 1) i've got a 5-speed & your auto will be more easily accommodating, and 2) i'm planning on throwing an xr269 in my 5.3 when i get back from deployment anyway (which was my justification for the gears in the first place). it helped a lot with my trailer, too, especially having 33s.
