If the knock is from piston slap I dont think that it will really help you. But, if you wanted to try it for a while it will not hurt your engine. It might sometimes cause a little tick on cold mornings though.

I have a 4.8 and have had the same knocking problems, but last time i changed the oil in it, it has seemed to go away. I am using 5w-30 mobile oil. I dnt know why it went away but it sure is nice not to have that sound any more

I have the same thing, and since my cam and spring swap I'm really in tune to it...it seems to be all that I hear now. I even pulled my valve covers off to make sure that my rockers were tight...to diagnose a noise that I know has been there since day one! I use Mobil1 5w-30 now, but have been considering switching to the Mobil1 5w-40, "Truck and" SUV formula. Temps are starting to drop here in Jersey, so I'm a little hesitant...although it's still a 5 weight when cold. I'm gonna decide this weekend...probably go for it if they have the oil at Wally World.

Well, it looks like this. (hint hint XLR8NSS)

The instructions are on the can, but you disconnect the MAF and take off the intake tube, get the engine to about 1000RPMs and slowly pour the liquid in. When you get about halfway I think, you pour alot in to make the engine poop out, wait 15 minutes, start her up again, pour the rest in without making her die and then rev the **** out of her. Huge plumes of white smoke will come out the exhaust...it's great

Nope, I've done this a few times on my truck and I know plenty of other people on here have too.
