2007 gmc sierra
#1
so heres my problem. i bought a new body style gmc sierra about a month ago and its almost summer time so i want to put my old summer 20s on it. well this new trucks have a tire pressure system in them, and all the wheels have sensors inside them. i need to have two different sets of rims and tires for the winter/summer. i cant run the 20s all year because the **** they put on the roads will probally eat at the crome. i have a few options here. the first is to get sensors put in the summer rims and have them programmed to my truck, but i dont think you can have two different sets of sensors programmed to one truck so that means i would have to get the seasons tires programmed each tire change over. thats like $100 a pop, not to mention the extra senors would cost around $400. another idea is to run with out the senors in the 20s but i would throw two warning lights in the truck(one on the DIC and one on the dash thats stays on) and i still cant a good answer out of gm about weither the stock rims and tires will relearn themselfs when i put them back on for winter with out going to the dealership and paying them to reprogram them.. another idea is to have the senors that are in the stock rims right now switched back and forth each tire change over, but that can get spendy. around $200 a season provideing that the senors will even fit in aftermarket rims steem hole. i would really love to just disable the TPMS all together but i hear it cant be done. any ideas on the best over all way would be awesome. please let me know your thoughts. thanks guys!

We have the same problem and we just ignore the error message on the message center. If you have the controls on the steering wheel pushing one will make the message go away and you can just forget about it.

yeah but what about when you put your stockers back on. i have to for winter. can i just push the tire relearn button and it will reconize the senors again or does it need to go back to the dealer for a reprogram. thanks for the quick reply.

There are guys selling the sensors on ebay for a fair bit cheaper than at dealer.
I would think the BCM could relearn another set of sensors, there is a procedure in the manual for that when doing rotations (I realize that is just location though). I mean what do they do if one goes bad and needs replacement? I'm betting the sensors (all use same p/n BTW) just have random codes for each one and the BCM just needs to learn the code for each position when it changes.I wonder how strong the signals are...start reading the pressures of the guy beside you at the lights...
I will be needing a set of winter take-offs too so am going to be dealing this myself soon. I wish my manuals would get here already!!!
On another note, I think they dropped the ball by not having another sensor in the spare...that is the one that nobody EVER checks!!!
