Question 2000 Silverado ABS light problem or brakes?

2000 Silverado w/4-wheel disk brakes, 56K miles with original brakes, no apparent problems with braking.
When I start in the morning and it's still cool I get no problem indication.

Later (in TX=100+ degs) when I start, the ABS & the Parking Brake warn lights stay lit . If I drive, put it in neutral, coast and shut off the engine and restart the lights go off and stay off until I stop and restart.

Has anyone experienced anything similar. Do I have a brake problem, or a problem with the lights?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The ABS system is picking up a fault, get it scanned for codes first

In a lot of GM cars I have worked on, if the 3rd brake light/s are out it will cause the same fault with the lights in the IC.

its gonna come on weather its hot or cold out

my truck does the same thing, it started when i lifted my truck
i have replaced the sensors on the front hubs and still nothing
i just pulled out the abs fuse

abs sucks *** anyways,it will kill you before it saves you

i cant tell you how many panic brake situatuions i have had, and in those instances the pedal fights you back and the harder you push the harder the pedal pushes back and it doesnt stop any faster

good drivers dont need abs
its the retards that do

You will need to scan for the Fault code to figure out what your trucks specific problem is. If you dont have a code reader most DIY auto parts store will read it for you free of charge.

It's in there benifit so they can sale more parts to the do it your self crowd.

If you look around, some shops Like AAMCO will give you a FREE inspection. Just make sure they will pull the code with out chargeing you for it. They do this so you will come back and get it fixed with them. It's kinda a no pressure deal some times it works and some times it doesn't.

At my shop If they won't Spend at least $40 to pull the code and tell them what it is, There Not gonna spend the money to fix the problem. We waive the diagnostic charge if they are going to spend the money and have it fixed there but other wise from a buissnes stand point, If there not willing to spend at least $40 to look at it, Why should we waist or time Knowing they wont come back.

If you go to mechanic they will charge you like 40-80 to pull the code and tell you whats wrong. By the time your done letting them fix it you will probally end up spending around $300 if its minor.

I didn't know that those places did ABS codes, I thought that they only did generic OBDII codes

I Can't speak for every place most newer hand held DIY scanners can do all obd2 codes Even on the newer CAN protocall cars plus get ABS codes. Alot of cars started using CAN protocall in 05 some as early as 03. So its in there benifit to Help you out so you will buy parts from them.
