Default 06 Silverado hybrid no start

My buddy had a 06 Silverado 1500 5.3 hybrid. The truck powers up and everything comes on when you turn the key on but when you turn to crank it , the truck just clicks twice and that'd it. I scanned it with my snap on solus ultra and only code is u1064 which is loss of communication to bcm and other modules. I did some horror stories on the starter generator Controll module going bad and the cost of a new one is 2800. Is there anything else to check or do or test?

To the best of my knowledge I see no trouble tree for that Specific code.

U1064 - Lost Communications with Body Control Module (BCM)

They didn't make a whole lot of these Hybrid trucks so there is not a lot of info out there on them.

With the Snap On scanner you should have the ability to communicate and see data on each module.

Track down a wiring diagram and go through the wiring first. If everything is good and you still can not communicate with the BCM, likely it's bad and will need to be replaced and programed.
