05 hood on an 06??

Lightbulb 05 hood on an 06??

hey my buddy has a 2005 chevy silverado and he is trying to sell his ram air hood.. i have an 06 chevy and from factory the hoods are different.. im wondering will the 05 hood fit on my 06? has ne one tried this?.. thankx.

I think it will fit but it will probably look funny... where you located??

well i mean my truck has that "powerdome" hood.. but the fenders and stuff are pretty much the same? im hopin itll fit cuz itd be a WAY cheaper way for me to get a hood.. im in arkansas btw

It will fit, but you'll have a gap at the top of the grill.

NO! IT WILL NOT FIT!!!

Look at the picture in my sig. I have since changed it, but that was an 06 hood with the 05 grille. Before I took that hood off, I tried the 06 grille with it. The 06 grille sticks out further and the points on the 05 hood WILL HIT IT!!!

Look at the bottom of the hood and the top of the grille in these pics. The mismatch is only noticable down low (because the hood hangs over a bit) and if you are looking for it. You can see the top bar of my billet grille insert which is a good indication of the factory hoodline.




I have since put the 06 grille on with the 06 hood. I have a feeling that the 06 front end may be slightly more aerodynamic due to the hood design.

Pretty sure that you need to use the 05 grille and hood together to make it work, same with 06...the hoods alone will not swap unless they have the same year grille installed.

The 06 hood will not work with th 05 grill, but the 05 hood will fit with the 06 grill.

i seen an 06 with an 05 hood the other day and it looked stupid. i mean they will both interchange and the hood will close fine but it will look wierd.
