Ok I have a question what yr did the Tahoe Z71 come with a 6.0L? All i ever seen was 4.8's and 5.3's in tahoe's. I'm asking because this guy is selling a low mileage 6.0L locally that im gonna check out in the morning and he keep claiming the motor is from a 04 Chevy Tahoe Z71 thanks any info will be greatly appreciated!

How can i tell what yr it is besides using the casting numbers? Is there any way to tell if it has the stronger rods in it?

You can check the RPO code tag in the Glove box or look at the 8th digit of the vin number.

LQ4 and LQ9 would be the RPO codes for a 6.0L option.

If the 8th Digit is a U or an N it would be a 6L optioned vehicle.

 

That motor did not come from a Tahoe Z71 in the NBS body style. NBS's only had 5.3, unless it was a Yukon or 2500 burb.

Biggest the Tahoe got was the 5.3 until the NNBS.

 

Must have been from a denali or an escalade. Tahoe's only came with either the 4.8 or the 5.3...Except for the rare few in '09 that got the 6.2..
