03 Silverado- Ford 9 inch
I've picked up a ford 9 inch for a swap into my truck(Pancho). It's 67.5 inches wms to wms so it should be a good fit I've been looking at different axle, spool, gear and brake options. Has anyone swapped a 9 inch into their truck that could give me some tips. I plan to weld on a back brace soon also if that matters and will be doing an axle flip in the process since I need to weld on new perches anyway.

Haha prolly 200 right now if I'm lucky. It's got the little LR4 for now I can't decide what I really want to do with it yet so I don't have a hp goal in mind. They spider gears always seem to break on all the 10 bolts I've had which then cause a **** show inside the diff. I have access to an iorn head 6.0 for fairly cheap which I would get new heads and intake for it or Ive thought about seeing how far I can push this 4.8. Maybe set it up to rev high and spray it. It's just a little shop truck I've got other vehicles I just traded for this thing and it's growing on me

No it was the axles that killed the deal for me once I started to look at pricing 6 lug axles they were like 300$ a piece. Then I would need a disk brake swap it new gears I ended up just buying a spare axle with 4.10 gears and posi. So now I've got 2 spare shafts. With the power levels I'll ever make with the truck and tire size I should be fine. In the end the actual 9 inch was the cheapest part of the whole swap. I may truss the axle if I bend a housing or something
