I personally don't like the idea of basically breaking the bond between us truck members by making us have our casual discussions at the racers lounge. I don't see what the big deal is about somthing off topic thats not directly related to a truck or SUV as long as its casual and clean.

I liked the old way of having our own little truck/suv community so we can just shoot the **** with eachother and stuff..

..but what can you do.

Doesn't seem like a positive move.

That's not necessarily what the change is about. It is about pulling the plug on the childish antics that sometimes happen here. This section was never developed for what it turned into. It was originally added for the above reasons at the top of this thread and we are simply going back in that direction. Take a look in this section right now and look at how many topics don't fit in here in the last 2 weeks. Most do. I moved one topic tonight because it was a general topic that should not be locked up in here. I personally think that some of the truck guys need to get out and involved in the rest of the site to give us a little more visability. If we want to expand and such, we don't need to be confined to our "own little world" . This site was developed around Gen III engines and it just so happens that our trucks have them. Why not spread the word and let the rest of the car guys know that some of us are serious. I catch questions and disscusion from other site members that may have bought a truck and are asking questions about what to do with them in the open forums. I don't think the change will be as drastic as you think.

When I have a cam question, I go to Engine Internals. When I have a tranny question, I go to Automatic Transmissions. I glean information from certain places on this site and post elsewhere occasionally. If people have questions on trucks, they know where to come.

Trying to impose arbitrary structure over something that has organically grown has a pretty decent chance of failure.

I know this forum was added to hold all the non-technical stuff that didn't fit into the "performance" section. The original idea was to put most of the general questions and topics in here, and keep the performance section somewhat pure. That way you wont have to dig through questions about fog lights and speeding tickets mixed in with camshaft technical topics. Made sense to me.

Not sure how or why it evolved to the trucker personal **** and flame forum.

I don't like the fact that this section has to be watched continuously. I personally feel that this "tech" site should be oriented that way. If you want all the other threads, I think fullsizechevy can give you all you can handle.

Interesting school of thoughts here ...

I'm not crazy about the idea in general because we have become a fialry close nit group. A lot of us 'truck guys' have all grown together in a way. I like being able to come in here and ranting with the guys I've grown to know. I wouldn't put it in the Truck Perf section though, becuase that's not where it belongs.

That being saud, I don't particularly agree with some of the stuff that has been posted in here, but it's not my place to make a right or wrong call.

I do see why you are doing this though, and I like the reason behind the idea as well. I think if you pay close attention by reading in other forums, there is a 'clique', if you will, in almost every forum where they have formed a bond and stick together.

Oh well .. I will follow along and give a hand where I can though.
