actually, the stepside beds are a composite plastic. but there should still be a pretty big weight difference.

I just changed my fleet to a stepside. The cool thing about it is insurence payed for it. It was nice of that lady to try parking in my bed,lol. Their is about a 100lbs weight difference, and you can fell it. I like the stepsides better, I had to settle for the fleet when i bought the truck .

I swapped from fleetside to stepside and weighed the truck before and after the swap and the stepside was about 75#'s lighter
