WTB: 4.8 or 5.3 alum block or shortblock.
#1
I'm looking to put a LS style alum motor in my Corvair and want a 4.8 or 5.3 Alum block to use. I'd like a bare block so I can build it, but I'll take a short block if you have one cheap enough.

if you want aluminum, then it would be only available in a 5.3L and even then it's kinda on the rare side (only the HO 5.3L).
on all V8's there was aluminum heads, the actual block weight from what I'm told is less than 100 lbs (but that figure may be wrong).
you can get a 4.8L long block for only a couple hundred bucks. Of course you could take a 4.8L/5.3L bare block, bore it and throw in a LS1 rotating assembly for a cheap iron block LS1
