The 5.3 iron manifolds have different connection types per bank.
The 6.0's have the same type of conection on both banks. A copper o-ring.
The 5.3 driver's side bank has the same copper o-ring type seal as the 6.0's have on both sides.
The passenger side bank on a 5.3 has a different connection. The manifold's dump opening is bigger allowing for the flared pipe end and doe-nut seal to be pressed in by a floating 3-bolt flange that has a different hole pattern than the the driver's side. If you wanted to put a VHO setup on a 5.3 it would be easiest to get a passenger bank manifold off a 6.0. Or the cut and weld thing could be done also.
Or you can do what I did on my 03, I cut my Y-pipe and ran 2 pipes into an SS muffler. It flowed better and souunded good too, but it was not a clean factory like setup. The non stainless add in pipes and welds would eventuall go south.
