from the pics i see the intake is the 7139. sure wish it was the newer 7140. just so you know, our addictions help feed your addiction. lol free bump

 

The only difference in the two is the throttle cable mount spot on the pass side of the intake. No difference in the casting except that. Both will take the LS2 style throttle body. With an adapter it will accept a LS1 or LS6 tb.

 

You said that the 317 heads are 'beat up' but usable for porting practice, did someone fudge on a porting job? would they be worth using for a build?

 

They will work, just around the ends and where the valve covers set. The port work is good just not finished. You can do it yourself just takes time. If you want a set for a build I have another set I was going to use for a build you could have for 100 bucks + shipping. They have valves but no springs.
