You are misinformed on these headers. These bolt up to a flange that is right in front of the cats(~1/4"). That keeps the cats in the stock location which makes it cali-cool.

well how about you modify your own pipe.... quicksilverado did it to his y-pipe when he installed the asm's.. he was able to keep the cats (but gutted them), just had to trim the y-pipe a bit i think. Not sure how much, i could get measurements todayif you want.. or just PM him. I'm actually about to leave this morning to go put them and his custom y-pipe on MY truck so i'll see how he modified it, snap some pics, etc. if your intrested...
