Default Z71 Suburban exhaust

MBRP says their exhaust won't fit my '03 Suburban because it's a Z71. They claim different suspension requires different hangers. I guess I thought it had a different shock and spring on it, but no other differences that would affect how the exhaust hangs from the chassis.

Anyone with a Z71 have any first hand experience with the MBRP exhaust or any other of the major brands? Magnaflow and others don't seem to make this distinction, unless I've just missed it. Any fitment issues?
Thanks,
Daniel

I've got the Magnaflow catback on my '06 Z71 Tahoe and it fits perfectly, even right down to centering the tailpipe directly under the arch in the Z71 applique plastic trim piece that goes over where the tailpipe exits behind the wheel.

the only thing i can see being different would be the use of air ride shocks vs. stockers...

Z71 has the same suspension components, just rear sway is a little bigger, shocks are a little longer, and the springs are a little taller. the ride hieght is taller than a ls or lt suburban.

Flowmaster said the same thing, but afreind installed one on a z71 without issue???

Thanks for the reply's. I agree with the comment on the suspension pieces being basically the same. I just can't figure out why MBRP (and FM) make a deal out of the Z71 when no one else seems to. Maybe I'll just go with the Magnaflow and not worry about it.
Thanks again.

The reason for the fitment issue is the lower plastic/applique...some companies exhaust may mount a touch higher than stock, combined with a larger exhaust tip which would cause interference with the plastics...worst case is you would have to trim it a little...there are no differences in the suspensions between trim levels that would cause any issues.

8.1 HD,
Thank you very much for that info. It reinforces pretty much what I thought, though I hadn't heard the trim part. I may just buy the mbrp system after all and make it fit. Doesn't sound too difficult.

So will the Mbrp cat back single side exhaust fit on a 2004 Z71 if you just trim the plastic pieces??
