Yank vs. SLP/Yank???
#1
I am looking at getting a torque converter. I was thinking of going with a Truck Thruster 2600. Then i came accross
an SLP unit for almost half the price. The SLP website says that their converters are built by Yank for them.
What is the difference?? What would make the SLP cost so much less??

Do you mean this:
http://www.slpnj.com/view_product.asp?PARTNUMBER=60121
This is the same as the Truck thruster 2400. It is rated at 2600 on the SLP site because the LS1 have more torque and can stall it higher (about 200 RPMs higher).

i guess I'lll have to go with the 3000 then... What kind of drivability should I expect??? I drive in California traffic every morning and afternoon...

I have a Truck Thruster 3000 in my '01 Tahoe. It rocks. Dropped 6 tenths off my 1/4 times. Driveability is almost like stock, but the launch is suberb. Because it's the same physical size as the converter in the '02 Trailblazer, it will tow 8000 lbs, no problem.
