To answer your question, there is no difference between the real OBX and the cheap knockoff version.

 

They both play a roll.. The collector is what really helps getting the gas/exhaust out.. Normally a 3inch collector is common with 1 3/4 tubes.. I am starting to think your being to hard on your self.. Make a choice and go with it... IMO I would run a 1 3/4 prime with a 3 inch coll, with out a doubt for your budget a stainless header that is in your range is where it should be.. LPP is hard to beat on a budget... Order them up and be done with it..

 

the 2.5" collector makes no f'n difference in a little 5.3L. Like I said before, KySilverado is in the 11s with a 2.5" collector. Actually, a 3" collector and 3" Y pipe is too big for a stockish 5.3. Last time I checked the stock pipe is only 2.25".

I would go with the $320 shipped ebay headers and don't look back.

Im like Bret Favre, just cant bring myself to make a decision... I keep thinking LPP, just want to over think the issue first.

You will see a rediculous string of posts about Cams in about 6 months from me as I do this same thing.

 

That's OK. I've been doing the same thing on here for the past 3 years. LOL.

 

Pipes are 3" on my truck, at least thats what they are at the Muffler... 3" in 3" out

 

that's the catback. The pipes coming off your exhaust manifolds are 2 1/4"

 

correct me if Im wrong here, but the y eliminates the cat, thus eliminating the 2 1/4" piping. By installing the LPP's it would be 3" all the way to the tail.... no?
