Default Would it be to much??

The other day I had nothing to do (which is a bad thing) and I was thinking about boost. I will build the LS1 with forged pistons and supercharger it. However, I was wondering what would happen if I accidentlly put the Vortech on my 5.3 ( which already has a comp 212/218 cam and Z06 heads milled 20 thou). The motor should be at stock compression. Of course this would be after the LS1 is built, just in case of . What do ya'll think?
P.S. I also have a NOS kit still in the wrap.

i was wondering the same thing the other day how much boost can the 5.3l take before it starts to blow itself apart ..anyone ever done a supercharged failure experiment?
Assuming there is a enough fuel to go with the boost and detonation isn't an issue a good exhaust system headers and true duals what else it it going to take ??

I emailed Whipple a while back, and they told me that 9psi is about all the bottom end on the 5.3L can take.

I cant see the 5.3 taking more than 9 psi. After that youd be pushing it. If you can drop the compression from lets say 9.4:1 to 7.4:1, i would assumme you could run a safe 15lbs of col air charge. I was going to do an intercooler experiment with my magna. I currently runs at 8 psi @ wot. with the intercoolerthe air temp would drop abour 40 degrees creating more power, the draw back was that if i did that, i would have to up the boost to about 10psi to compensate for the loss of flow pressure, and another 5 for more power, but the motor cant take it. these guys r poppin these motors with less than a 200 shot. with forced induction @ an intercooler 15 psi, youd almost be in that power band @t wot. Which would blow the sucker.

Without milling the ls1 heads, I'd say 12psi. Before I decided I wanted to stay N/A with my engine, I was planning on running 12psi with ATI with stage II ls1 heads. As I understand it, the weak leak on the LS1's is the rod bolts .... probably the same for the trucks.

I was wondering if the bottom end would take 7 psi and the cam and heads swap. Should I change to a smaller cam? Or just pray that the bottom end holds as is?
