Curious, what happened on that first 60'?
Curious, what happened on that first 60'?

The first run the truck was dead cold and I have found that when the motor is cold and the turbo is cold spooling takes forever! So when I got to the line I did my usualy routine:
Stage first amber
stand on the brakes and slam the gas pedal to the floor
watch boost creep up to 5psi then ease up on the brake to trip the 2nd amber
PRAY that I build enough boost before the lights come down then PRAY I can hold it BEHIND the beam before the truck takes over and starts rolling forward. LOL
Only in this case I couldn't build more than about 4.5psi off the line. If I can't get at least 6psi at launch then the truck just lags as if I left off idle. It's kinda weird. So at first I look like a stock truck launching but then at about the 60' marker it looks as if I just hit a 200shot of nitrous. LOL

The crappy thing is. The tranny is messing it all up. I felt it slip on the 7.5psi launch on that last run so my 60' suffered. Then on all 3 runs it would bounce off the rev limiter for a sec before shifting.
I don't have any scanning or tuning software to check to see if it was hitting the limiter on it's own or if it was the tranny slipping. I used to scan my runs then I could have data for my tuner to work with. After getting the turbo I am not even gonna try to touch the tuning myself.. LOL

Here comes another 4l80 swap? There power robbers but good piece of mind.

Seriously though. I crank to torsion bars down all the way so the front drops about 1.25"s and that eliminates any front tires spin I used to get and it doesn't scrub all the way down the 1/4mile anymore. Just launches nice and smooth. I'm still running the stock Firestones.
By chance what kind of HP estimators do you guys use? The one I use says that for 5250lbs and 100mph I should be about 545rwhp. If you use that what kind of % drivetrain loss do you calculate in? I know in my F-body we used to use a general # like 20% for auto and 15% for manual and get a ballpark that way. I know I have a decent amount of loss due to the transfer case and running in 4wd the whole 1/4mile.

I'll let ya know if it pans out.

I was hoping you were coming out tonight. I really didn't get to talk to ya at Rick's grand opening and after it really sank in who you were I was like damn.

Awesome times, and I'm glad the water didn't hurt the motor. Your fastest time reminds me of my fastest slip from my 01 lightning 2 years ago: 12.33 @ 111.23 - this was on 12psi + 50 shot.......and you're heavier as well = youre making some awesome power with that STS
