Default Will this exhaust perform

Hey guys,

I have a Silverado SS with cam, maggie w/ 2.8 pulley, and typical bolt ons.

Currently, I'm running stainless shorty headers, stock mid-pipe and Corsa Sport cat back.

I'm going to switch to some Pacesetter long tubes and am planning to modify my stock mid-pipe to work with the long tubes.

From what I can see, the stock mid-pipe is pretty big and should be large enough to support my power (low to mid 12's). But that is my question----how restrictive is the mid-pipe and Corsa cat back? Thanks.

That will depend on how big the midpipe is i guess

running the stock midpipes you should be fine with the LTs and the corsa but in my opinion i would spend the extra 100 bucks and get the 3" y-pipe with the headers that should bolt up to your corsa. that way your exhaust doesnt go from 3" collector down to 2.5" midpipe then to your muffler.

The mid-pipe (it's an SS) is bigger then 2 1/2. I would say it's 3 1/2 or really close to it. The system has two bigger pipes (I'd say 3?) that go from each collector, then merge into a bigger piece (3 1/2?) right before the connection to the catback. This is going off of memory so I may be completely wrong....

im drivin the same truck man...the pipes that come off of each manifold going to and from the cats is 2 1/2", possibly 2 3/4" at most...the only part of the stock SS exhaust that is bigger than that is the tailpipe which i believe is around 3 1/2". Thats why most companies that sell headers for these trucks offer a 3" y-pipe, its bigger than stock and clamps right up to their collectors. If you had a piece of 3" pipe next to your stock mid pipes you could definitely see the size difference! By the way, you wouldnt happen to have your stock muffler would ya? Im looking for one.

Ahh, bummer. Hopefully, those size pipes will be good enough for now. I'm running a Corsa Sport cat back so sorry no stock muffler.

Anyone know if this system will support high 11's somewhat efficiently? Thanks.

like i said in the first post, that size piping should be fine but if you have the extra 100 bucks to spend go ahead and get the 3" y-pipe with the headers. That way you shouldnt have to ever mess with the exhaust again and it will be alot better flow for your f/i setup.

I just bought some headers and they're coated and have v-band connections. I'm going to either have to modify my stock exhaust or create a new system. Unless performance is severely hampered by the stock pipes and cats, cost will be the dictating factor. I appreciate the feedback.
