Why would an intake affect shift firmness?

With all the playing around with intakes I've done, I just decided to put my stock airbox and tube back on while using the ram-air mod, even went back to a Fram paper filter. Last night after work, I did a 0-60 run and the time was as good if not better than with any intake or intake combination I've tried in the last 3 months. But what got me is how firm the 1-2 shift was, a lot firmer than with any other intake. I thought is was just a fluke so this morning I did another one after taking my son to school and the same thing, damn near felt like I had a shift kit and it pulls harder after the shift than it did before. I like it but don't understand how an intake would affect the shift firmness! Any ideas?

Maybe just more air getting into the MAF?
I know that ported MAFs on the F-bodies can change line pressure in the trans to the point that it wont shift fast enough and you end up banging the rev limiter.
Also watch the temps when monitoring this stuff. Your IATs can make a big difference in what the PCM decided to tell the tranny/engine AND how the truck feels performance wise. An easy way to do this is mark the time when you are monitoring performance for anything then go home and check out www.weatherunderground.com for the weather in your area at that time, then go to DA Calculator to get the DA. It wont be super accurate unless the place measuring the weather is close to you.
For instance when i check DA for Sac raceway I use Mather AFB as my weather post. Whne I am screwing around by the house I have the local Lincoln measurements up.
