I run Mobile 0w/40 in my performance vehicles. Tested all the oils years ago and this did the best for me.

I agree, not that i would recommend this example but two of the truck i drive often for work, one an 02 2500hd 6.0 and another 02 avalanche 8.1, the hd gets oil changed every 10-15k and uses the cheapest store brand oil he can find and that truck has about 285k on the original engine and trans, trans has been flushed once and it honestly runs like a top. The avalance gets changed every 25k but the 8.1 needs a quart about every 2k so it is a little different but still not manufacturer recommended. It also has over 200k and both pull a 28' and a 32' trailer most of the time. I am amazed how much better these engines last. But myself i use mobil 1 5w30 change it every 5-6k depending how its driven.

Definitely not wanting to start any crap. Just stating my experience. Used Pennzoil as recommended religiously on an '80 model Dodge pickup 2.6 (Mitubishi) since new. Changed more often than it was recommended, 3-5000 mi. Used it as a service truck and beat the crap out of it the whole time I had it. 4 years later at 109,000 it developed an issue...counterbalance shaft as I recall. I pulled the valve cover when it started running rough and to my suprise there was a ton of sludge all over the valve covers and valvetrain. I have never used it again. Maybe there was another issue such as pvc that was unknown to me. I do not have any idea. Just my experience. Take it for what its worth. Have used Royal Purple or Mobile 1 with no issues on at least 5 vehicles for many years.

I have used mobile 1, shell rotella t, and castrol in the engine. I have a few quarts of imported Mercedes atf in the tranny right now, and I think rest is castrol.

I run mobil1 synthetic 5w~20 winter, 5w~30 summer on the turbo truck. Rotella T synthetic 5w~40 in my Big blocks, and Dmax. I will use dello 400 15w~40 on an engine that has some clearance.
