I know this thread is old but I just wanted to let everyone that posted there experiences helped me a lot.
I had a local exhaust shop talk me into a Flo Pro 3 chambered muffler to replace the factory muffler in my 2005 GMC Crew Cab Z71 along with a Corsa look a like tip. Well it droned so bad it hurt my ears between 1600 and 2200 rpm's. I was assured that this muffler would not drone and I quote "If you don't like this muffler you will be the first person out of the hundreds I have sold". Well here I am to tell you I had to be the one. I also lost 1.5 MPG and I am sure that also had a lot to so with the 2 1/2" crush bent pipe that caused increase back pressure. When I went back to talk with the exhaust shop to tell them that I was not pleased all he would offer is to put a resonator before the muffler for some more $, but would not give me any guarantee that would take care of the problem. They would not switch me out to another muffler or refund me any money. On top of that they did such a bad job welding they did not complete one weld and left a hole that exhaust was coming out of before the muffler.
After a lot of searching I found this thread on running two mufflers in series. I found an exhaust shop in Raleigh, NC (RJ"s Custom Piping) that has a mandrel bending machine. He build me a custom 3" exhaust system from the cat flange back using two 14" Magnaflow mufflers (5" round x 14" long and 5"x8"x14")
and a nice SS tip. Sounds grate and no drone. Highly recommend this shop if you are anywhere in the NC VA area. Just Google RJ"s Custom Piping.
So for all that chimed in on this thread THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Has anyone setup up their catback with 2 magnaflows in series? Looking to do a 3.5" catback w/3.5" cutout. I will not stand for ANY drone whatsoever. If I can't find anything as quiet as stock I'll stick with stock, eventhough it's killing me at the track. Magnaflow does have a 30" turbo XL muffler which I believe Atomic runs, but it's a chambered design. I want straight through for performance.
I was looking at Magnaflow PN 12909, 22" 5"x11" oval. I've had this same muffler with headers and no cats in the past and I was not a fan at all. Really droned unacceptably on the highway. Maybe 2 in series would be what I'm needing. That's 44" of muffler. Open the cutout when I want to get roudy.

Great at idle, Pretty quiet on the highway but has a great rumble when you need it.

I do! I believe mine are 5"X18" 3"Round Magnaflow, 5"X18" 3" Oval Magnaflow. I don't have any drone, but i will say it is louder than i thought it would be.... I really would like it quieter, but then again i don't feel like messing with it...

Magnaflows are lifetime warranty, but who wants to F with that. I prefer Borla, they sound great from beginning to end, and I've never worn out a Borla. I put them up there with Bilstein, and both go on all my vehicles.
I'm going to run 2 - 3" Borlas in series, for the factory supercharger swap, on my 1998 Tacoma 2.4L 16V.

You'd be alright if you changed out the resonator for another muffler. And bigger cans if you can fit them. That looks really good btw. I ran a small exhaust shop behind my house, and the company I was deaIing with switched to Borla, because of all the warranty issues. They now sell both, along with Dynomax/Walker.
