It goes inline with the PCV hose (between the intake and PCV valve), and catches and separates the oil and moisture that would be sucked through the pcv system and into the intake.

I haven't looked inside mine for a while, but from what I remember, there is a steel mesh and 2 sections, one with the filter and one below it to act as a reservoir for the oil that has been caught. It has a petcock on the bottom for periodic draining (I usually drain mine every 500 miles to 1k, depending on when I remember lol)

For those on a budget like myself, I went with the one from Jegs. Cost 45 bucks and seems to work well.

Hey Randy, I'd check the hose to the intake on that one periodically and make sure that the filter isn't getting full and bypassing straight into the intake. It looks alot like the homemade version that alot of us were trying a few years ago, where you got an oil/water separater from Lowe's or HomeDepot and plummed it in. I ran one on my truck for about a month until I noticed that the oil level in the reservoir stopped rising. When I pulled the hose off of the intake side, it was filled with oil and totally bypassing the filter. The one you have looks a little beefier than the one I experimented with though...I wonder if the filter is cleanable with brakleen or something?

I'm sure it lets some oil get by maybe. I dump it out from time to time when the level gets about half way up to the filter. I have thought about running two in series just to make sure but so far it seems fine. I have checked the oulet hose a couple of times and it was dry. I do need to check it again though.
