I will most likely be ordering an x-pipe and 2 magnaflow mufflers tommorow.I have heard that location of the x-pipe will affect the power band.Is there any truth to this?, and if so,what location of the x-pipe affects what....as far as low,mid or top end power.Of course i'd like an increase all the way across, but since thats probably not possible...where should i put it to help with more mid and top???

i am sure there is a good answer to this question but i think for most people you put it where it fits, my mufflers are in the same location as the stock one and my h pipe is right about 1 foot in front of the mufflers. i can tell you it made a huge diference in sound, it is much quieter and less cackely than before. took my exhaust from droney and too loud to perfect and exactly what i was looking for.

There is a way to figure out the best placement if your exhaust guy is patient. You can run your duals and leave out the x. Spraypaint some strips on the facing sides of he pipes. Drive around for a day then check the paint. Where the paint is bubbleing up is where you want to place your x. But otherwise, anwhere between where the factory Y is to about 2.5 feet back is fine.

I heard the best place to install a cross over or x-pipe can be found by spraying a light coat of paint along the exhaust system ahead of the muffler take it for a quick spin or idle a little while <img border="0" alt="[USA]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" /> where the paint peels is where the exhaust gases are hitting the most resistance and of course is where the heat build up is occurring. That is where you are supposed to put the crossover. I dont know if it's true I remember reading it in an article and they were talking to guys like Lingenfelter and smokey Unich (sp) about cross overs and x-pipes.
