Where is a 5.3, 4.8, and 6.0 exhaust different?
 

I was just wondering, as I always seem to get stuck in the middle of this junk. My friend has a 2003 Suburban with a 6.0. He wants to buy my buddies Magnaflow off of his 2001 5.3 extended cab. Got me wondering....where is the difference between an extended cab and regular as far as exhaust goes? What about a 4x4? If GM was smart, they would have made them all hook up at one central spot (say right at the bed line), but I'm sure they didn't. Anybody have any experience hooking this stuff up into trucks it was not designed to go onto?

The difference between the p'up trucks is the center pipe (the one before the muffler) that vary from RC,XC,and LB.The difference between the p'up
and the suburban is the design (leaf spring and 4link) it will not fit unless some
cuts and bends :( better off buying the one for his sub. :guns:

The 4.8 and 5.3 (at least in the trucks) use a "Y" pipe that is 2.5" whereas the 6.0 uses true duals that are 2.75", The 4.8/5.3 have a single in/single out muffler whereas the 6.0 uses a dual in/single out muffler

A 4.8/5.3 Magnaflow system won't work on a 6.0 at all unless you swap to the 4.8/5.3 "Y" pipe as well

All of this is based on the trucks....the 'Burbs, Avalanches, and Denalis may be different

My truck has a dual in/out muffler with the y-pipe about a foot back of the muffler.

Everything is different. Pipe size, configuration, cat size...........
