Are you looking for slick or street tires?

I saw a guy running an L with some 28.0/10.0-16 Hoosier slicks at the track this week. (http://hoosiertire.com/Drtire.htm)

As for street tires...I'm lost.

going to smaller wheels just boggles my mind. Why? as these trucks go forward 17's are going to be the smallest wheel offered

Just use a good sander or die grinder LOL

I had to grind mine down pretty good to get 15's to fit on my T/A.

I don't think you will want to leave them on all summer. The first time it sprinkles you wll have to pull over and wait for it to dry.

I think the good street tires would be a better idea. Just don't go with GY Eagle GT2's. They suck! Maybe some Nitto's would be a little ebtter suited.

Count me in too.

On the 15" rims - wont there be interference with the lower ball joint
as the threads point down thru the knuckle. ????

you think 15's are silly, i think 22's are silly. diferent priorities is all. i want to run freeking hard, dont really care if i look cool doing it.

for me the overall diameter is kind of important, my last tires were 29" tall and looked a little short to me, i was trying to stay at 30" or biger.

i have some time to think about it, some 30-31" tall or so drag radials that would mount on stock wheels would be ideal.

I think the big wheels are silly too but I'm into street rods, not show boats. I dropped a lot of weight w/ the 15's and gained some sidewall on the slicks. Works well. I put 15 x 7 on the front w/ no issues. I relocated the calipers on the back and still had to grind quite a bit off. I wanted to leave as much meat as possible.

Hoosier has some badass street tires called Quick Time Pros... I'm not sure but I think they're mostly in the 15" size. They've got 29x15.5x15 sizes that are short and wide (what I'm eventually going to run on my F150 after I get a 408 in there).

Anyway, you could run a 15" wheel in the back and a 16" wheel up front...sounds silly but I don't see you getting a 15" wheel up front due to the size of the disc and caliper. With a 15" out back you'd be able to get some WIDE wires out back for most of the traction you seek and something 10-12" wide up front. Hell Mickey Thompson has a SERIOUSLY wide like up to about 22" wide that's about 30-32" tall...

Either way, if you plan a street slick you're going to end up 26-29" tall on a 15" rim at best to fit under the truck. Or you're gonna have to shell out some big cash to get some cash for some 18" wheels and some of those street slicks that Nitto makes for the Lightnings a 305/45R18...Nitto also has some 325/60R18 AT tires too.

the big problem on going to smaller wheels is brake cooling ,the march from 15's to 16's to 17"'s from the OEM's has been brake rotor sizing and adequate cooling. the 20 -22's and now 24"-26" is done primarily for looks unless your going to run 14" rotors the usually an 18" is the minimum you can fit. and everyone has their limits 22's are the biggest you can go, before you really start making big trade off's in ride and handling. my original point was going form a 16 to a 15 is is a bad Idea fom a performance standpoint, (I know there are more tire choices) but the speeds a which some of these board trucks are operated , choking off cooling flow is a bad idea, the current truck brakes aren't exactly world class.

Quick Reply: whats it take to get 15" rims to fit and will they fit on the front at all?
