Default What's needed for cam install help a newbie.

I'm sure this has been answered before but I couldn't find everything I need.
I have an 08 silverado 5.3
I'm wanting to get the tsp 220/220 cam. I use my truck as a daily driver. I pull a trailer 10-15 times a year for 50-60 miles.

What all other parts are needed? Lifters, spring, pushrods? If so which ones. I know tsp offers a package. What else would I need?

Do I need/ have to do the dod delete and Vvt delete? If so how is that done.

Buy the complete DOD/VVT delete kit. Make sure you have a valley cover and LS7 lifter and pushrods. Just call TSP if you want to get everything all at once. Or even SDPC.

There are several components you will want to change; for example our cam install kits include double valvesprings (Brian Tooley, which we install a lot of), hardened pushrods, timing chain, three bolt cam conversion kit, and associated gaskets. That would cover the cam alone.

DOD will definitely need to go, those lifters won't take the added duration and lift of the new cam. For instance our DOD delete kit includes LS7 lifters, OEM GM Head Bolts, GM head gaskets, non-DOD valley cover with gasket, and lifter trays.

Since you have to pull the heads to get to the lifters, it's not a bad idea to have them ported and polished if you can swing it.

That truck shouldn't have VVT on it.
