I'm thinkin about swaping to a more low end cam. Its been a couple years since I did my first swap so I'm a lil rusty on the procedure. Whats different with the swap if I don't need to change the springs and rods? Hopefully its a lil less complicated.
I know I should change the springs too but I'm poor. And if anyone has a comp 212/218(? I think thats the popular one) sittin around or wants to trade let me know.

I have 918s with prolly 30k on them? I've babied them though, Never actually raced anyone before or takin it to the track. I used the ls1howto website to do my first swap. How is it different? Do I stil have to pull the intake and valve covers? or just yank it out, and wiggle the new one in?

with some dowel rods you don't have to touch the intake other than removing the air box.
just pull everything infront of the engine. once you get the timing chain off slide the dowel rods into the 2 holes so that they'll slide into the groves of the lifters. spin the came to get em all. You also need to shave part of the dowel rods but someone else can post that cuz i'm not sure how much to shave.
Once it has all the lifters just slide the cam out and slide the new one in.

ok see if I have this straight... remove front accessories and cover, remove valve covers, pull rockers and pushrods, and then I swap the cam? That should save some time not messing with the intake and especially springs

i think you got it. should't ever have to remove intake manifold during a cam or spring swap. access to the lifters is the only reason you should need to remove it.
