Default Whats the concensus on ASM headers?

Well as the title says i'm thinking about putting some ASM's on. I've decided to go with them for a few reasons.
- Emissions reasons, ie not having to move the cats so no-one gets all pissy with me.
- Ceramic coating
- good looks

And the best one of course, my stock manifolds has developed a crack. So that right there is a good reason to upgrade

But basically just wanted those who have them to chime in and tell me what you thought of them.

Thanks,
Mike

Mine passed the visual inspection with no problems. They looked great when I installed them, but after two northeast winters, the coating is really rusting off. Others have the same problem. I'll probably have to get them re-coated eventually before a hole rusts through them.

Heh i hear you on the winters, between the amount of salt the PennDOT uses and driving back and forth to Vermont i'm actually gonna pull my entire powertrain off the frame just to re-undercoat mine. Granted i got suspension work to do so its not like im going to such great effort just for a bit of rust. But rust is rust, and it bothers me especially when it forms on the body mounts lol.

For those of you with the ASM's showing some rust through the coating, I wouldn't feel so bad. A couple of guys have posted about the same thing with their PaceSetters. Yea the PaceSetters are less expensive, but if you need to retain the cats for the smog police, the ASM's seem to be the easiest and most straight forward way to go (excluding the stainless headers on the market such as StainlessWorks , Dynatech, and eventually QTP).

I just installed my ASM's a couple of weeks ago and I am pleased with the quality and fitment of them. I really like the fact that you can still retain the stock cat's in the stock location.

It has been my observation that all ceramic-coated headers eventually break down in salted winter environments. I haven't seen any long term use of stainless steel headers in those conditions though. That bad thing about stainless steel is that it's more brittle and will fatigue crack more easily.

Have you ever seen or known anyone with stainless steel headers that cracked? I personally never have excluding turbo manifolds but thats a different story.
