I think that you only need to shim it if you're using a double roller timing chain, for clearance.

Not the kind of shimming Im talking about. Im referring to shimming the pressure relief valve of the pump. Thats how you get a high pressure pump.

How do you do that? I dont know what the pressure relief valve is. I may be pulling the motor shortly to rebuild it since its burning oil now. Hopefully its just a messed up valve guide seal.

My ported LS6 pump makes about the same pressure as the stock one. I don't think that there is fundamentally really any difference between them. However, shimming that relief valve would probably work to increase peak pressure.

You dont have to shim it. Thats just how a high pressure pump is created. Pic below. You can see the relief spring and where it is located in the pump. The small plug towards the end is removed and shims inserted.

Why Do You'll Want So Much Iol Pressure 30 To 40 All The Time Is Good To Much Is Not Good Either It Will Wash Out The Bearings Faster. That Is Not Good Either.so In The Middle Is Good. I Go Off Of Idle It Should Be Around 30 To 35, As Ling As It Goes Up And Not Down When I Give It Gas It Is Good.

I do not want that much pressure. I just got a plain old pump. Just showing how it was achieved and what I meant by shimming.
