Im looking at camming my 02 5.3 for towing, no mods besides springs and a tune. no tq converter or anything.
Im looking at a 206/208 510/510 113 lsa for the truck now, But how whould a stock ls1 cam do?

 

The gain is minimal and in a lot of people's opinion, not worth the time, effort, or money. Stick to the cam you mentioned or something close to that. I had a 216/220 525/532 114 in my 5.3 and lost some low end grunt. A 2400-2600 converter would make a nice addition to your cam swap and wouldn't have a negative affect on your towing. Just a thought.

 

ok, so the ubove cam looks ok, and then a future converter would be good, but not nessisery right.

 

98-00 fbody cam is 198/209 .500/.500 119.5
01-02 fbody cam is 196/207 .467/.479 116

if you would use a ls1 cam get the 98-00 cam its deff. better than stock
99-03 truck cam is 191/190 .457/.466 114
im hopefully going to install that cam this winter along with the ls6 intake, off road
pipe and a set of either 4.8PP heads or 5.3PP heads.
