What Voids the Factory Warranty?
#1
I was wondering how far I can modify my truck before the manufacturers warranty is lost. I know simple bolt ons like catback and intake wont affect it. But can I put a Power Programmer on and headers? I've heard claims that NOS and SUperchargers wont affect the warranty as long as it is installed by GM tech. IS this true? All you guys who have modified your trucks please comment on this.
Thanks!

I think Nitrous or a SuperCharger would pretty much void your entire drivetrain warranty.
Basically if they can prove that an aftermarket part caused the failure then they don't have to cover it

Yeah just take your mods off Its a pain, but nothing should go too wrong with your truck anyway. But if you are someone who is really really honest, just altering your hide height will void all waranties. Yes, Hypertech would void all powertrain too. Kinda sucks. Oh just one other commemt - My buddy was programming his computer on his LT1 and fried his PCM somehow...Even though his warranty was up, if this happened to your PCM warranty certainly wouldn't cover it. (It didn't happen to my 5.3L though)

I want to know the name of a GM service place that will install N20, I have some work for him to do. J/K N20 WILL VOID your warranty if they can prove you ran it. I had it on my truck but NEVER used it. The engine broke on it's own. Some after market warranty companies and hard *** GM sevice centers will give you a hard time about any mods. But you need to look into the Moss-Magnason Act about aftermarket parts. You can also contact SEMA. I had my HPPIII installed when I took my truck in to have the engine replaced and told them about it. Try and find a mod friendly dealer you can take your truck to. Call around and ask the service supervisor some of your questions, it doesn't hurt to ask.

all of yall from south houston should go to LES MARKS chevrolet in la porte. it's kinda on the way to the track. anyways anytime i took my truck in for any problems they never complained. actually they were simply amazed that anyone would do something to the truck. also i think in the hypertech manual it tells you to take out the program before you take it in for any problems.

I always use the bolt on theory to know what will void my warranty... Bolt ons do not void warrant.. You can bolt them on and then bolt them off if you need to..
