Default what trans for a carb lq4 carb set up?...

help 6.0 swap in 73 2wd blazer. what trans?
Hey Everyone, this is a great site! a lot of info. Can someone steer me in the right direction please. I have a 73 2wd blazer that i am going to do a ls swap in. i have an 2005 6.0!!! tps 224 cam . I am not going to run the computer or fuel injection, putting an edelbrock intake and carb on it. My question is what trans do i run 700r4 since no computer?.. I'll post some pics soon.
Thanks
Bruce

Sounds like a nice project...I moved this to the GM Engine and Exhaust Performance section for you as you'll get more hits here. Not sure which bellhousings will bolt up, but if it fits, I'd think that a 700R4 is the most common non-electronically controlled swap.

I'm curious to know which trans is stronger, the 200R4 or 700R4...back when I had my 85 MonteSS, it seems like everybody liked to swap the 200 out for 700's. I thought it was because the 700R4 has a better first gear, and also thought that the 700 was supposed to be stronger, but I"m not exactly sure. Hopefully somebody will chime in and clear it up

i will say the 200 we are running one behind a twin turbo 408 its been built up to handle 1400hp ! 700r4 and its younger brother the 4L60 are junk ! u have to remember they ran the 200r4 in the grand national and the gnx !i have been told the 200r4 takes less HP to run than the 700r4!got the 200r4 from artcar!
