The only special tool needed is a spring compressor for the valve springs. A 3 prong pulley puller would be a good idea too for the crank pulley. Get a good one, don't get no Harbor Freight piece. It'll break after 1 1/2 turn, trust me. The crank pulley nut is a 24mm. The rest are all 8, 10, 12, and 13mm for the most part.

You got my number, holler if ya need some direction. I may or may not be in town then, I dunno, it's kinda hit or miss there.

you can make these tools alot cheaper than you can buy them
you can use some small rod wrapped with velcro to hold up the lifters

I used a 5/16 dowel to hold the lifters up. Cheap and worked great.

I broke two bolts off in the head, I'm not using that style spring compressor again I went and got one of those other kinds where you can compress the spring, then put it on the head. It was much better.

you can use wooden dowels to hold the lifters up and out of the way. any home depot or lowes will have them. grab both 1/4 and 5/16 dowels. i could use the 5/16 on one side, but had to use the 1/4 on the other. as far as the spring compressor goes depends if you want cheap or a good one. cheapys can be had at just about any parts store.

Go to Sears and get one. Most parts stores have them too. Shouldn't be much more than 20-30 bucks tops.
