They actually ment the oil filter, not the air filter.

Mobil 1 5W-30 full synthetic with either a Fram or STP oil filter. Used Quaker State 4x4 10W-30 for a while then went back to regular Mobil 1 motor oil then switched to synthetic.

Which Fram are you guys using? Please tell me it is not the regular Fram filter.
The standard Fram oil filter has one the lowest reviews.
Here are some reviews on some oil filters. The one that gets the best review can only be used for one manufacturer though.
This test was done in 2003.

Valvoline synthetic 5w30. I ran castrol syntec for a long time before that. I have always used ACdelco oil filters.

Mobil 1 full synthetic and Mobil 1 Filter or K&N Filter every 5000 miles. Up to 167K now and Blackstone labs cant believe it has such low wear patterns with that kind of mileage.

Also stay away from the Fram filters IMO. They use cardboard endcaps in their filter. I just can't see cardboard holding up to hot oil under pressure. Once the cardboard endcap fails, you're not filtering oil anymore.
