Hey folks, I have a question on the after market tuning vs. the plug in programers. Plainly putting it what would be better for me? Right now I'm running a custom cia w/a K&N, I have installed good plugs and wires and running a single 3" into a dual 2 1/4 out flowmaster 70 series( had a 40 on it and couldn't take it ). After putting on the cat back I have seen my gas mileage drop ( its been on for a while so I'm used to the sound now) and my driving habits are back to normal. I have heard that after letting the 5.3 breath better I might need to do some work to the pcm so that it notices the changes. Would it benifit me to buy a plug in or get a new pcm? some time here in the future I am going to put on fans also and was also told that the plug ins' won't work on that...... Does anyone have opinions because I have no idea

Get the Edit. Its going to help your truck out way more than any hand held can. You should take advantage of the $200 mail order tune right now

The mail order tune is thru Texas Speed. I haven't heard very much about them so I dont know how good they are. I have a Nelson tune and its working out badass for me. I lost 5 tenths switching from a hand held to Nelsons tune. I'm sure a few more guys will come on here and tell you about there experiences with Nelson.

Nelson tune allows me to break traction when I hit WOT at 30MPH. Nelson is awesome!
