Default What needs to be removed...

I am going to be installing my cam soon. A friend of mine is very familiar with FBody cam installs. He was curious as to what all is needed to be removed while doing the truck cam swap. Any insight and advice you can give will be appreciated. Thanks

Pretty much the same as the F-bods, just that we have the fan and shroud and I also removed my radiator to keep from damaging it. You can also clean it out real good w/ air to get all the dead bugs and crap from on it. I just went to LS1howto.com and printed the pages out w all the torque specs. on it and that'll save you a lot of time. Plus pictures help alot too...Zed

When we did my cam swap we took the valve covers off. We didn't take the intake manifold or heads off.

You have to take the intake/heads off only if you're doing the lifters too. Don't mess with the AC condensor or compressor. The only thing you need to take off to get access to timing cover is the crank/balancer pulley and water pump. Don't mess with the alternator, ps pump etc. I just un bolted my radiator and bungeed in up and to the side, to get it out of the way. Like the others said, that website is pretty comprehenssive. Good luck and have fun!

AC,Was it you that was the one complaining about engine noise and made a vid for all here to hear?,what pushrod length are you going with? if it's shorter than what you have now you can expect even more engine noise. If it was me doing the cam i would yank the heads and mill them .020 and use the stock pushrods unless you plan to spin it past 6200RPM

Yes that was me. I am using stock 7.400" hardened TR pushrods.
