I also checked the upper hose from the passenger side of the radiator. I pulled the hose off the radiator and coolant started leaking out, so there's no air in the radiator either. I also put in a bleeder fitting on the heater hose going into the cabin, no air there either. Looks like this is just the way it is. I think I'll be investing in a twin core radiator sometime in the forseeable future.
When I did this the first time it was hot and didnt do anything ,thats when i removed the thermostat. When I got bubbles is when I let it cool to ambient temp like over night and I had installed the thermo back in. You might have to let it cool fully after warming it up...

BTW what efans did you have? The factory 05 fans that I added keep my truck under 200 degrees when pulling a 8000 lb tractor.
They were factory 05 fans

Eh, kinda....I'm going to throw the stock thermostat back in eventually and see if that does anything. It takes longer to heat up at idle now but it will still do it.

I have always drilled a small 1/8 hole in my thermastats in both my 2001 suburban and my 2005 Truck and never have had an issue with air in the system, they both have SLP 160deg stat's the 2005 has the factory E-fans and it always runs 178 to 180 cruising down the road even at 104deg outside temp and 185 max at Idle.

The 2001 Suburban has a clutch fan and it runs at 175 to 183 deg all the time.

BTW both are Supercharged, 2001 Magnason side mount, 2005 has a Radix.

After reading 6 pages, I don't remember seeing that the front end was lifted when refilling (just assuming you did that). May seem minute, but worth the suggestion. Also... it's been suggested to me to get the rad flushed (if all else fails). Who's to say that corrosion over time hasn't occured. Just flushing with a garden hose won't do the best job either.

Radiator = brand new Actually, I have basically replaced my entire cooling system. New fan clutch, new radiator, new water pump, new thermostat, flushed the engine block, flushed the heater core....the only thing that's not factory right now is the 180* thermostat. I'll be going back to stock with that in a little bit too.

I was very careful to make sure there is no air trapped in the system. I'm 100% sure that's not the problem.

One other suggestion, would be to pull a vacuum on the system at the fill point. That would eliminate any air pockets I would think.
